BIOGRAPHY

Andrée Fauchère … herbalist…. writer

Ever since childhood I’ve been interested in all aspects of the great outdoors, so I’ve been involved with plants for over fifty years and have never stopped practising the popular art of herbal medicine.

My training in herbal medicine was followed by training in homeopathy, in Chinese medicine, in magnetic geometry. I practised herbal medicine in a doctor’s office for one year.

With over twenty years of life companioning behind me, accompanying people all the way to Le Pays de l’Ailleurs (The Elsewhere Land or The Land Beyond), I acquired the nickname of ‘ferryman of the soul’.

There are several little known and seldom used rare essential oils that are however always found in numerous cultural rites of ancient civilisations in order to approach death and become comfortable with it, rather than ignore or deny it.

I accompany people in sickness; I listen to them; I counsel them; and I endeavour to bring comfort and tenderness.

Writing has been my chosen field of action for over forty years now. I enjoy going deep into myself and listening to life in all its aspects speak to me

Artistic approach

My first book, recounting the Swiss Himalaya Lhotse expedition of 1981 in which my husband, Jo Fauchère, a mountaineering guide took part, appeared in 1985.

Since then, thirty-seven works of mine have been published by Edtions Slatkine, Geneva.

Daring to write about life and tell about wounds and suffering as much as about happiness and small joys... Then came that day in 2008 when I dared speak about my secret life, about these visions and voices that came to me, this certainty that life had more than one layer...

I was eight years old when my grandfather died and right away I understood I could talk with him. I also noticed that I was not like other little girls my age, for I heard voices and knew things other children couldn’t understand. It was the death of my mother, and later that of my first husband, that truly opened wide the doors to this inner certainty that I was able to speak with deceased persons.

It wasn’t an easy time for me, as in those days people like me were treated as witches. I understood, in fact knew that there was no death and that souls just went somewhere else. I realized that my physical body was simply a sort of house where my soul lived. This understanding gave my soul the strength it needed to make myself available to others in order to reassure, help, and support them.

This inner certainty has also enabled me to enter the worlds of Light and have the courage to listen and speak with my guides. And it has been my joy to transmit the teachings I received. Several of my books have been published. Little books that you can carry in your pocket or purse, and that serve as reminders of our soul life and remembrance of consicousness. A certainty that we are living our lives as we were meant to and a knowledge of why we chose to do so.

Lettre d'âmitié, 2021, Helvetia éditions

Friendly letters between kindred souls

At first there was a hand bound artist’s book and an exhibition in Lausanne presenting picture books with the artist, Anat Rosenwasser. Our friendship together with the process of co-creation inspired me to coin the word “âmitié” (translator’s note: âme means ‘soul’ and amitié – with no circumflex – means ‘friendship’.) And so followed the book entitled “Lettres d’Âmitié”, published by Editions Helvétia.

I believe deeply in the enlivening power of listening and dialogue and in the inspiration that comes from true sharing. They lift out minds and our vibratory level. May this book inspire you in turn!
