Nathalie Manser

Nathalie Manser is a virtuoso cellist and composer who has been immersed in classical music since childhood. After being awarded First Prize in Virtuosity, with congratulations from the jury, and a concert license from the Lausanne Conservatory, she went on to perfect her technique in various orchestras of French-speaking Switzerland and participate in Master Classes in Germany.

The rigidity of the composition of classical works, however, while allowing her a choice of the way in which she would interpret the music, still restricted the expression of her creative imagination. She has therefore moved away from this repertoire a little in order to devote herself to her own adaptations and personal compositions.

Thanks to magical encounters with two famous English producers, DAVID RICHARDS, the talented sound technician and musical director of the Montreux Mountain Studio (Queen, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, etc.), and GEORGES DE ANGELIS (Rod Stewart, Seal), Nathalie Manser’s creativity has blossomed and in her unusual travels around the world she has been able to offer musical moments full of deep emotion. The following albums were born of their collaboration: “Les Anges” in 2001, “Alpha Centauri” in 2004, a special compilation called “Musique & Parfums” in 2003, and “A Handbook for Human Beings” in 2005.

In 2014, together with a Parisian team, Nathalie Manser coproduced the album, “Une Page d’Amour” and in 2019 she brought out four new titles under the heading of “La Légende Oubliée” with the Swiss studios, ShiverLand Productions.

Since 2002, NATHALIE MANSER has been specializing in multi-sensorial shows, combining scents and images in connection with her music, with MICHEL ROUDNISTKA, the renowned perfume designer for Grasse in Geneva. Together they produced “Un Monde en Senteurs”, an olfactory and sensory world tour carrying the audience into a realm of emotions where dreams and poetry are blended.

She has toured Switzerland and abroad extensively with this unique show.

In 2020, NATHALIE MANSER created her newest show, “La Légende Oubliée”, a tale in poetic and metaphorical language of human quest. The show is currently touring successfully in Switzerland and neighbouring countries.

Parallel to her artistic career as a concert performer, and inspired by the birth of her son, Mahé, in 2010 and by her new role as a mother, she has created a Garden for Awakening Musical Creativity, entitled “Les Petites Oreilles dans les Etoiles” (little ears in the stars), as well as workshops in initiatory storytelling, entitled “Perles d’Amour” (pearls of love), both adapted to young children. Her teaching experience in conservatories and in other schools of music enables her to bring a ‘fairyland’ pedagogical openness encompassing her skills as well as her original approach as an outstanding artist. She is also the author of the educational book, “Maman Clé de Sol” (Treble Clef Mum), published by Editions LEP.

Artistic approach

TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE HAD THE KINDNESS OF HEART TO SHARE MY MUSIC WITH ME, I INVITE YOU IN THIS BEGINNING OF THE 21ST CENTURY ON A JOURNEY. IT IS A JOURNEY IN TIME, IN SPACE, WITHIN SEVERAL CULTURES, AND INSIDE EACH OF US; A JOURNEY WHERE, THROUGH THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE OF MUSIC, MAN ONCE MORE BECOMES A BEARER OF HOPE, OF PEACE, AND OF LIGHT.

In all times and in all places, there have been men and women who, by their example of courage and at the cost of great struggles and abnegation, sometimes even at the cost of their lives, have helped move humanity forward on the path to knowledge.

Using my music and my cello, I invite you to follow with me those who have been pioneers either by their different way of life (Native Peoples of the Americas), or by standing up against the oppression of a minority, by fighting for certain humanitarian values, in the conquest of space, or quite simply by revealing the hidden beauty in each of us (angels). Any one of these pioneers can serve as a guide and a torch on our own path. My wish is that by paying homage to them on my bowstrings, I might build a humanistic bridge between these diverse cultures and our own so that we perceive them, if only for an instant, as belonging to a single race, the race of Men. May my musical message and my shows be a call to love, to tolerance, and to enchantment.

Nathalie
